An American woman named Shena saw this black “bag” on her way to work while she was driving her car. Looking at the sprawling blueberry fields that line the highway, she often spotted trash bags closer to the road. But one day, she decided to stop and get closer. At that time she realized she was looking at a stray dog. The frightened dog was lying among the blueberry bushes and looked frightened at the woman as she approached.
“At one point I lost sight of her and I became very concerned and started panicking,” Shena said. “I was worried I lost her and she would be left to suffer alone and scared. I started jogging along the side of the blueberry field, looking down each row.”
Sheena immediately noticed that the dog had an injured leg. She tried to get closer, but unfortunately, the fearful dog had run away.
After a while, the woman managed to find the dog again. She made a semblance of a leash from what she found in her car and successfully moved the dog into her car. She took the dog to her local RAPS vet clinic to be examined. Aside from an injured paw and being underweight, the dog was fine, though very scared.
“My heart exploded with joy,” Shena said. “I was so over-the-moon excited that I was going to be able to help her.”
After all the excitement, the dog was finally safe, and no matter what, she trusted people. When she recovered, Shena decided to take her in right away, as she couldn’t part with the doggie anymore. Her new pet was nicknamed Blueberry, which is where her owner found her.
Blueberry is now happy. A year has passed since she was rescued.
“She is also an absolute ham and can be very hilarious,” Shena said. “She makes ridiculously funny gremlin noises when she is excited. She is eager to please. She also does everything at a thousand percent.”
Shena is so happy she met Blueberry that day, as she was able to save a life and gain a new best friend.
