Wild Raccoons Keep Visiting Dog Friend To Play Hide-And-Seek

Not long ago Cheryl Steven said goodbye to her beloved dog, and a few months later she got a new pet so that she wouldn’t be so sad about the loss. The new pet was a mongrel corgi named Chief.

“She lives wild now, but sometimes brings her little oneshome for meals and apparently to play with Chief,” Stephen told The Dodo. “I’ve never seen Chief bite or hurt the raccoons even though he’s bigger, so he has Sarge’s kind spirit.”
The woman’s family lives near the woods, so they often have different furry guests. The most common are raccoons. The woman’s previous dog was friends with raccoons, and she was worried about how Chief would react to them. But all the worry was in vain – when the raccoons first came to the doorstep of the house, Chief greeted them with joy and curiosity.

“They roll and hop and wrestle — it’s adorable,” Stephen said. “Sometimes, the little ones tug on Chief’s tail or jump onto his back. Chief rolls over in surrender, and they climb all over him. They often eat together.”

Cheryl had been spoiling the raccoons with treats for a long time, and once helped them and saved a couple of the animals from trouble. The grateful raccoons have been coming to visit ever since. They have a surprisingly warm relationship with Chief – they immediately began to play together, despite the difference in size.
The owner of Chief said she had no idea how much different animals understand each other, but to watch them play happily ever after is a real pleasure!

“I love it that all the animals here get along — even the wildlife,” Stephen said.
