When The Parrot Turned A Year Old, He Started Going Bald
Sometimes pets get sick. But not all owners abandon their pets. Bella Escobar has a parrot called Blondie. He was only three weeks old when Bella found Blondie. Because of a rare parrot disease of the beak and plumage – PBF – the chick has gone bald.
At first he looked like a normal and healthy pet who loved to fly. His favorite place was the lamp. When Blondie turned a year old, he started going bald. The bird kept losing feathers until it was completely bald.
Veterinarians initially said the bird was bald because of stress, but later it was discovered that the cause was a genetic disease. Blondie had passed it on from her mother.
Sometimes birds recover, but this rarely happens. Since the parrot’s body is completely featherless, it must be treated with coconut oil. In addition, the lack of feathers makes the bird cold. The owner bought a plush toy for Blondie so that he can warm himself with it.
At first Blondie got depressed because he couldn’t fly anymore. But the whole family began to help the bird to get adopted to the situation. Blondie is now well and quite happy. As the owner said, the parrot is very funny but grumpy. He is always around and keeps an eye on what the household is doing. Taking care of a sick pet is never easy, but the owner does not despair, she loves her parrot as before.
