When The Family Had A Child, The Dog Became His Guardian
When the owners of a dog named Luna had an addition to the family, they were worried about how the doggie would react. But as soon as she was introduced to the baby, all their worries fell away.
“I was very curious to know if it would continue after Martina was born,” Osterling told The Dodo. “And I was pleasantly surprised.”
Luna lives in Peru with her loving owners and foster brother. Luna’s owners recently welcomed a new addition to the family when they had a baby girl. At first, they were worried about how the pets would react to the new family member. But after Luna was introduced to the baby, all their worries fell away. The dogs instantly fell in love with the girl and began to surround her with care. Most of all, it was Luna who became attached to the baby – she was always near her.
“She treats her like her sister,” Osterling said. “She protects her, takes care of her and lies by her side when Marti sleeps.”
Parents are sure the two will become best friends when their daughter grows up.
Luna even tries to play with the newborn. She brings her favorite ball to her crib, and “asks” the baby to throw her the ball – not yet realizing that she needs to grow up a little to do so. That’s the cutest thing ever! Luna may have been a little perplexed that Martina didn’t quite pick up the cue, but she seemed more than happy to include that new tiny human in on the fun regardless.
“I was very moved because it showed me that Luna loves Martina, even though Martina still can’t show her the same yet,” Osterling said. “I know that Luna loves her very much and wants to be with her and play.”
