As recently as 1.5 years ago, piglets were born on a farm in West Virginia, USA. One of them turned out to be special and the weakest of the others – the baby had severe tremors and could not move around properly. The veterinarians gave him a sad prognosis, and the owners didn’t know what to do.
The farm owner’s sister, Chelsea, decided to step in. Although she didn’t live on a farm and had never cared for a piglet, she believed that baby Floppy could be saved. She and her husband took him in and began feeding him by the hour and caring for him, following the advice of doctors.

“I have always had a place in my heart for animals. All of my animals are rescues and I see the value in being the voice for those who can’t always speak for themselves. When Floppy was born, I could tell my sister-in-law and husband were having a hard time deciding what to do with the piglet. They went back and forth for close to a day and finally, I said that if they wanted to give him a chance at life, we could take him home and give him the round-the-clock care he needed. The rest is history! I knew nothing about pigs, but I have learned so much from Floppy and from research. We created such a close bond and from that, we knew in our hearts he was meant to be part of this family.”

In addition to the couple, the piglet was also cared for by two pet dogs who took on the role of foster moms. After a while, Floppy miraculously began to get better. He grew stronger, more active, and fitter, and soon he was grown into a big pig.
The couple planned to take the piglet for a couple of weeks but later realized that they became very attached to him. Floppy has become a beloved pet and part of the family – he is wonderful with dogs, lives in the house, loves people, and is very grateful to his owners for rescuing him.

Floppy is now 1.5 years old, and he is the happiest pig. He knows how to open doors, walk stairs, and loves to bathe in his pool and play with his dog friends. His owners take him for walks on a leash every day.
Although Floppy is now twice the size of his doggie “babysitters,” they are still friends and love spending time together. Floppy doesn’t hide his love for his owners either and is always happy to cuddle with them.
