Two Deformed Dogs Become Best Buds After Same Family Adopted Them Five Years Apart
All animals are worthy of love even if they are different. The dogs named Picasso and Newt are different, but this woman has given them a new life and a loving home.
Liesl Wilhardt, a 53-year-old American, owns her dog shelter, Luvable Dog Rescue. The woman has been rescuing dogs who need help and a home for several years. Liesl herself has two dogs with developmental disabilities, Picasso and Newt. She adopted them at different times, but the two quickly became best friends and now get along very well.
Liesl took Picasso in 2017, and Newt came into the family in 2021. Picasso, 5, was born with a crooked muzzle, and Newt, a year old, was injured by his mother as a child, which caused him to lose part of his upper jaw. Both dogs are now living happy lives and behave just like any other dog, except they need to be fed in a special way and cared for more attentively.
‘It was a miracle that Picasso survived being a baby, because it would have been very hard for him to even nurse from his mother. Both Picasso and Newt adore people, so in public they are very outgoing and seek attention and love to greet people.’ Liesl said.
The two canine friends have their own Instagram accounts, where they have nearly 280,000 followers. There the owner shares funny videos and photos with her pets. In addition, Picasso has an important job – he is a therapy dog and helps people with health complications recover.
The doggie owner, Liesl, has rescued hundreds of handicapped animals during her tenure at the shelter. She now keeps dogs, cats, chickens and even pigs at the shelter. She currently has eight pet dogs, including Picasso and Newt.
