Dorothy lives happily with her owner in the United States, and is already used to the constant attention due to her lack of fur. She’s not sick, there’s nothing wrong with her – she was just born this way, and her family adores her bald beauty.

“My favorite thing in the world is people seeing her and reacting,” Micah Williams, Dorothy’s mom, told The Dodo. “It’s either pure horror or instant adoration.”
The owners didn’t understand how the pet got that peculiarity, but they even ran a DNA test to find out the details. It showed that Dorothy is 87 percent pug, and 13 percent terrier or other breeds. Experts believe one of her parents may have been bald from birth.

“We got a dog DNA test and we got 87.5 percent pug [and] 13 percent terrier or other, so no answer there,” Williams said. “When I got her, we lived in Phoenix, so we didn’t have to worry too much about clothing,” Williams added.  “However, we moved to Chicago about eight years ago, so [she] requires copious amounts of sweaters, dog onesies and puffy coats in the winter.”
Dorothy’s family loves her just the way she is, and she lives a regular dog life despite her lack of fur. However, when it gets cold, they dress her in a warm suit.

Sometimes the look on Dorothy’s face can make her seem like a sullen and willful lady – but her stern exterior hides a kind soul. She is a very sweet, gentle, and friendly creature!

“Despite the looks on her face, she is the sweetest dog ever,” Williams said. “She loves to snort, snuggle, eat and sleep — apparently she got the full pug personality!”
