U.S. resident spotted the animal in the hills near a residential neighborhood. At first, she did not understand who was lying among the grass – she mistook it for a coyote. However, as she got closer, she realized it was a dog.

The woman took pictures of the dog and published them in various groups, looking for its owners. However, no one was ever found. The woman left her water in a bowl and food. The lonely dog continued to live on those hills, never leaving. It was very hot outside, so the woman decided to contact rescuers. Luckily, a volunteer named Susan Hall offered to help.

“You could tell that she hadn’t had water in days,” Hall said.

Hall grabbed her trap and a giant jug of water, then made her way over to the steep hillside. The closer she got, the clearer the dog’s condition became. Unfortunately, the dog refused to go into the cage.

“She’s a total miracle,” Hall said.

After a while, the dog realized that she wanted to help. She started wagging her tail and trusted the woman. Susan was able to gently persuade the dog to enter the cage. Happily the sweet creature was now safe.

“She’s just so scared,” Hall said. “She’ll let you pet her, but she just shakes. That’s typical for being on the streets for a long time.”

It turned out to be a Belgian shepherd dog, who was only about 7 months old. The rescue team took the dog to the vet clinic. She was named Sunshine. She is currently being cared for. Soon she’ll have a permanent loving family.

“I named her Sunshine because it was so hot and because she’s a bright light of sunshine,” Hall said.
