Stray Dog Given Months To Live Gets The Best Gift From Woman Who Saved Him
This adorable creature was picked up on the street in the American city of Houston. When the staff at the local shelter was told about this dog, they immediately went to pick him up and, of course, started looking for his owners. After interviewing local residents, they learned that the dog was homeless and had been living on the streets for about eight years. His story is unknown – one woman just knows him, and periodically fed him.
“We found Bear, but he was very afraid of us,” Forma told The Dodo. “As we tried to capture him, someone pointed out a house to which Bear belonged to, [so] we went to speak with that resident. She’d been feeding him for 8 years.”
“He wouldn’t have made it another day on his own,” Forma said. “The mass weighed three and a half pounds when it was surgically removed. It’s sad to think he had to lug that thing around for so long.”
The dog was taken to a shelter, named Bear, and began to be rehabilitated. Initially, he had huge tangles in his fur, which were removed first thing. In addition, the dog was found to have heartworm and lymphoma, a malignant tumor. Then the vets gave him his first sad prognosis, that he had three to 12 months to live. But Bear had other plans.
“He goes to the vet weekly, [and] we’re happy to report that he’s been in remission for a couple months now,” Forma said. “As of today, there are no signs of cancer. He’s doing great!”
At the shelter, the dog began active treatment and all the necessary procedures. And after a couple of months of sensitive care and treatment, a miracle happened – a remission. Behar’s tumor was gone.
You only have to look at Bear’s happy face, and everything is clear without words. He had been through a lot, but he still has a smile on his face, and he is a very happy, cheerful, and kind-hearted boy. Bear has been living at the shelter’s volunteer house for the past several months.
“He’s rainbows and sunshine,” Forma said. “He’ll wake up pacing around the house with a smile, and woofing at us. He starts every day off being happy.”
“[He has] brought so much joy,” Forma said. “He exuberates life and happiness. It’s nearly impossible to be around him, or even look at him and not smile. When he’s not there, you can just feel that something is missing. He makes us want to spend our days giving him all the opportunities to experience the joys of life while he still can.”
But the caretaker and her family fell so in love with this handsome boy, they decided to keep him with them forever! Now Bear is doubly happy and charges everyone around him with his positive attitude and love of life.
