Shelter Staff Arranged Wedding For Elderly Dogs

They say that all ages are suited to love. These elderly brides and groom proved that, too!  Elderly pit bulls Earl and Fran were recently brought to the Homeward Animal Shelter in North Dakota, USA. Their owner could no longer take care of them, so he gave them to the shelter. The dogs were very attached to each other from the beginning – they did everything together and followed each other everywhere. The shelter staff saw how much these two were attached to each other. So they decided to make a special day for them.

The pair were then sent to a rehoming facility and began looking for a new permanent home for them. However, finding a home for the two elderly dogs was not so easy. Then the staff decided to do something special for their charges – they organized a wedding for them to officially “register” their union.

The wedding was organized in the best traditions: canine guests from the shelter, delicious cake, beautiful outfits for the bride and groom, and a registrar. At the end of the ceremony, the newlyweds were even given a wedding certificate where they put their paw prints. The celebration turned out to be very touching.

The staff decided that in addition to the festivities, the wedding would be a great way to raise awareness of the dogs’ potential owners. “We really want as many people as possible to see how amazing Fran and Earl are. They are sweet, loving dogs, and deserve a better home and unconditional love,” the shelter staff said.
