Rescuers Find A Mysterious-Looking Wild Animal In Need Of Help
Employees of an animal supply store in Ocean Springs, USA, spotted this animal near their doors. They couldn’t figure out what it was – the poor thing was so overgrown with tangles you couldn’t see its muzzle.
They contacted a rescue team from Wild At Heart, who came over and tried to catch the creature. However, it didn’t work the first time – he was extremely fearful. They spent more than a month trying to track and catch it, and it wasn’t until they set up a special feeder with a camera that they succeeded.
“When I threw the net over him, it was the biggest adrenaline rush I think I’d ever had from relief,” Roe told The Dodo. “We were getting desperate because by the time I finally put the net on him, we realized a couple more days and he wouldn’t be here anymore — he was that bad.”
It turned out to be an elderly raccoon who had been diagnosed with the worst case of sarcoptic scabies the vets had ever encountered. The raccoon’s skin was terribly dry and its fur was hard – as the doctors described it, it had been living in a “shell” all along. Specialists immediately took charge of the animal’s health.
After some time, the raccoon, which was named Hobo (Hobo), visibly revived. Thanks to the efforts of veterinarians, daily baths, and treatments, he began to feel much better. He now lives in a spacious aviary with pools and trees.
The caretakers love and care for Hobo, and he is learning to trust people. After a couple of weeks of treatment, he is finally jumping, climbing the tree in the enclosure, and just enjoying life. His fur is growing back and he’s getting stronger every day. Be happy, Hobo!
