Puppy Abandoned In Woods Has Sweetest Reaction To Seeing Her Rescuer
A stray dog was spotted by Adams County residents in the United States. The dog looked good – passersby immediately thought it was a purebred. At the same time, it was very afraid of people and was constantly looking around. The poor thing looked like it was waiting for someone, so people thought it was either lost or just dumped in the woods.
Passers-by fed the dog and contacted animal rescue. A volunteer quickly arrived on the scene and tried to lure the dog to put her in the car. But she was not successful – the dog was very afraid and was hiding.
“She was so scared and barking so much,” Grant told The Dodo. “[Dogs in this situation] are really hard to catch.”
The woman left the dog and returned the next day. She kept hiding, but unexpectedly when the volunteer brought her food, she came out and this time happily wagged her tail.
“I left briefly, went back that night, put some food out and talked to her some more,” Grant said. “She was so excited.”
Then the dog was taken to the shelter. There she was named Zoomie, and it was determined that she was only about four months old. It turned out that her breed was a mongrel Rhodesian Ridgeback. The dog didn’t have a microchip which means no one was expecting her.
“She didn’t react at all,” Grant said. “She let me pick her up, so I put her in the crate and came straight home.”
A volunteer took Zumi to a holding facility. At first, she was just very scared and distrustful of her new surroundings, but the foster mom’s love melted all the ice. Soon Zumi became an affectionate and adorable dog, and she had a friend – a dog who lived at the shelter. After a while, permanent owners were found for Zumi. Now this doggie is happy, and very much enjoying life! Thank you to the kind people who rescued her.
“She’s just the cutest thing,” Grant said.
