Kitten with Sweet Face is Given Fighting Chance and Determined to Thrive and Live Full Life
This unique kitten was born with several muzzle deformities, which left him without eyes or a nose, and hydrocephalus, an accumulation of fluid in the brain. He was picked up on the streets of Edinburgh, USA, and given to Murphy’s Safe Haven.
“Kittens like him can live long healthy lives if they are with the correct person that will give them a chance,” Audrey shared with Love Meow.
“He had such a will to live and wasn’t letting anything get past him,” Audrey told Love Meow.
The kitten, called Muppet, needed special care and treatment. A volunteer named Audrey took the kitten into her care. She knew this little guy would make it.
Every two hours the caretaker fed the kitten through a special tube. He was in a special incubator where his body temperature was regulated and he breathed extra oxygen, which made breathing easier and supported his lungs.
“Muppet knows when it’s feeding time. He will wake up and stay at the front of the incubator waiting for me to feed him. And if I’m a few minutes late, he will start screaming,” Audrey shared with Love Meow.
“Despite his appearance, he is full of life. He will scream his head off till he gets what he wants. Special needs kitties deserve a chance too,” Audrey shared.
Despite all the difficulties, the baby endured all the procedures and really wanted to live. He showed himself a real fighter, who was not afraid of anything on the way to recovery. He had a great appetite and a loud voice that always told him he was hungry.
Muppet has no eyes but has strong instincts and an incredible fighting spirit. This miracle kitten has already made great progress and continues to grow. As he grows, his other senses will develop and help him navigate like the most ordinary kitty.
“He’s doing so well. We’ve started him on medication for his hydrocephalus and so far it’s helping,” Audrey shared with Love Meow.
“Muppet is so strong and has such a unique personality. He is so full of life and he has no idea he’s different.”
Muppet is already learning to crawl, continues to make little wins, gain weight and delight his caretakers. They are sure – a great future awaits this baby because there are many known cases of kittens with his disability growing up to be happy kitties. Be happy, kitty!
