Kitten Can Stand and Run Again After Some Much-needed Care and Plenty of Hugs
This frightened little furball was found in Lancaster, USA. The kitten had developmental problems and several burns, so people decided to help him as soon as possible. The baby was taken to the Humane League of Lancaster shelter.
The kitten could not walk or stand straight due to neurological problems and was staggering a bit. The shelter staff suggested that he might have chewed an electrical cord, and they began to restore his condition.
“The foster coordinator contacted me (two days before Christmas), wondering if I was interested in fostering an ill kitten named Navidad. I said yes, immediately,” Wilma, a foster volunteer of Humane League of Lancaster, shared with Love Meow. “He was unable to walk or stand well because of balance issues. We don’t know exactly what caused the burn, imbalance and tremors, but suspect he had chewed on an electrical cord. He was in critical condition for about a week before he came to me.”
The kitten was given the cute name Navi. Although the little guy had enough illnesses, he turned out to be very sweet and gentle. At first, he was shy and afraid of his new surroundings but immediately liked to lie in his foster’s arms. He had a great appetite and quickly began to gain weight.
“He started voluntarily jumping into my lap and running to me when I came into my foster room/office,” Wilma told Love Meow. “I was holding Navi in my lap (one day) when he decided to climb up onto my desk to help me work.”
After a couple of weeks, Navi transformed and became much more active. He stopped being shy, asked loudly for attention, and started exploring more around him, showing a lot of interest. He started walking better and no longer trembled.
Navi continues his difficult journey toward a full recovery, but most importantly, this boy is full of confidence and strength, and he has loving people by his side. When the baby is completely recovered, permanent owners will be found for him.
“I’m thrilled that he feels safe enough to sleep there. He doesn’t cringe or try to get away anymore when I come to him.”
