Gordon is a Shiba Inu dog whose courage and love of life delight everyone around him. Born in Taiwan, Gordon was once run over by a hit-and-run driver. Because of the accident and his injuries, Gordon’s hind legs were broken and he couldn’t walk properly.
But kind people showed up on his doorstep. He was helped by local volunteer organizations. He was taken care of and later Gordon began to move around in a special wheelchair that supported his hind legs. Then they started looking for permanent owners for him. At that time, a family from the United States saw his photos. They already had a dog, but they couldn’t stop thinking about Gordon.
“I’m reading this sad story, and then there was a picture of him, and he’s got the biggest, goofiest smile,” Wickersham said about when she first came across Gordon’s profile.
“We thought we were adopting him to help him, and really he has given us so much joy and laughter that I feel like we could never repay that to him,” Wickersham said.
After that the family decided Gordon should be with them! They arranged for him a flight from Taiwan to the U.S., and they also prepared the house so he could easily move around in a wheelchair. That’s how Gordon got loving owners. They fell in love immediately.
Gordon is now 11 years old and recently won PEOPLE’s Sweetest Rescued Dog Contest. He easily moves around in his wheelchair, loves to run, play with a ball and frolic on the lawn, enjoying life to the fullest. This joyful dog is a real energizer for everyone around him!
