Dogs Were Allowed To Pick Their Own Christmas Gifts At Animal Shelter, And Here’s What Happened
Our fellow pets want some New Year’s magic, too. A shelter from Ireland recently gave its residents that magic! The staff organized a New Year’s gift day for the shelter dogs, and their reaction can’t help but bring a smile and a ton of cheer. Take a look at these happy faces.
This New Year’s Eve initiative was invented by the Dogs Trust dog shelter in Ireland. Every year, the staff of the Dogs Trusts host events for their pets, and this time it was especially emotional.
Volunteers surprised the dogs by filling the room with different toys. Each dog chose a gift from the offered ones and took the one she liked most of all with her.
All 23 dogs who are now being cared for in the shelter received their presents. The happy dogs who were choosing gifts were filmed on video and it’s impossible to watch them without smiling. They are like children who have received a mountain of presents and are happy about little things.
Before the New Year’s Eve initiative, the shelter staff opened a collection. The shelter does not receive any state funding, so local residents have traditionally helped the shelter financially by sending toys to make the dogs happy and make the New Year’s magic happen.
