Dog Waits A Week On The Train Tracks For His Parents To Come Back For Him
This black Labrador mix was spotted on the railroad tracks. According to eyewitnesses, the dog was brought to the area by car and simply left to its fate. Apparently, the cruel owners decided to get rid of the pet that way. But the dog was confident that his owners would soon return for him.
“They always wait when they’re dumped because they’re so loyal and they think that the person is coming back,” Hall told The Dodo. “I was so scared that he was going to get hit by a train … The gal who originally noticed him said it was like he would barely move until the train was almost there.”
The dog was standing on the tracks, waiting for his owners right next to where they had left him. He was even very hungry, but he didn’t dare get up and find food because he was waiting for his owners to return. They never returned. Passersby who saw the dog contacted rescuers to help him.
“At first, he got up and started to run, but I threw chicken his way and it made him stop,” Hall said. “He was very scared and hesitant.”
When a volunteer named Suzette arrived, the dog did not make a move. She only managed to distract him with food, because he was very hungry. That’s how she managed to catch the dog and put him in a safe place. She named the dog Soldier and took him to the vet right away.
“Sometimes, when I’m trapping a dog, it feels like I’m watching paint dry because it can take a long time,” Hall said. “I’m known to sleep in my car to rescue a dog because I don’t give up.”
The doggie’s health turned out to be fine. They are now looking for a holding facility for him, feeding him on a schedule to keep him healthy and giving him baths. When Soldier has recovered a little from his experience, they will find the best owners for him.
