Dog Chained In Abandoned Backyard Can’t Believe He’s Finally Being Rescued

Walking by a house in his neighborhood, a resident of Detroit, USA, noticed a dog that had been left chained up. It turns out that the old owners of the house had moved and decided to get rid of the dog in this irresponsible way, simply by leaving it chained outside the house.
The man immediately contacted Rebel Dogs Detroit Rescue, whose staff responded to the request for help.
“Beaker was timid and cowered behind the garage to hide,” Perkins told The Dodo. “He peeked out the side as I started calling for him. As I got closer, his tail started wagging. Then he pushed his weight against us for petting him — and seemed to be visibly relieved. He ‘meeped’ like a muppet, he was so excited, so he got the name Beaker!”
When they came to rescue the dog, they couldn’t look at him without pity. The humble poor fellow looked out from behind the garage and was afraid to approach humans.
But when the rescuers approached him, it was as if he realized that these people would not hurt him. He wagged his tail and whimpered happily as he couldn’t believe they had noticed him and helped him. Volunteers freed the dog from the chain and took him to the veterinary center for a checkup.
“When the chain was untethered from the garage, he dropped to the ground for belly rubs and kisses and playful chaos,” Perkins said.
The vets discovered that the pooch was very emaciated. He had spent many days on a leash alone, without food or water. The chain had left lesions on his neck, which they began treating right away. In spite of this, the doggie was very grateful to people.

The doggie was given the name Beaker. After the examinations, he was given to a group of volunteers at a shelter and is now actively recovering. They will soon be looking for permanent owners for this friendly boy. Be happy, Beaker!
