Dog Arrives At Shelter Weighing As Much As A Baby Elephant

The homeless dog was so much overweight that he could hardly move on his paws. People who cared noticed him on the street and decided to help the poor old man.
When the dog called Trojan was found on the street in England, he was dirty, shabby and weighed as much as 100 kilograms, which can be compared to the weight of a baby elephant. The elderly 10-year-old dog was so much overweight that he could hardly move around.

He was brought to the RSPCA shelter, where they took care of him right away. They put Trojan on a special balanced diet, began exercising him, and introduced long, active walks. With each passing day, this doggie was gaining strength and becoming happier and happier.
A year of such intensive care passed, and now Trojan weighs 60 kilos. He’s lost almost half his weight, and he’s only happy about it!

“It’s taken a year, a very special diet and an exercise regime to help him lose the weight slowly and safely; and he’s now almost half of his original weight,” Nicola Anthony, the kennel supervisor at the RSPCA’s Ashley Heath Animal Centre, said in a press release. “Thankfully, he hasn’t lost his big character!”

In addition, Trojan has grown a new fluffy coat after his haircut and has turned into a handsome dog. Despite his age, he is an active and strong dog. He loves walks and gets along with other dogs. At the moment, they are looking for loving owners for him.

“Although he’s in his twilight years, don’t let that fool you; he has no intention of ‘retiring’ any time soon,” Anthony said. “He is still strong and likes to go for short walks, plod around the garden and have a good sniff! He gets on really well with other dogs but doesn’t like being jumped all over, so he’s best around calm, respectful doggy friends. We think he’d be best as the only dog in his new home so he can have all of the attention and affection; and he really deserves it!”
