Rosemary was three years old when she was brought to the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana in June. The poor girl was so fat and clumsy that she couldn’t move properly. Her owners gave her to the shelter, asking that she be put to sleep because they thought she was elderly and couldn’t take care of her.
The shelter staff saw the desperation in the dog’s eyes and promised to make her happier. In the first few days, Rosemary weighed 11 pounds, which is considered obese for her breed. The staff immediately began to help the dog lose weight – doing exercises with her, and keeping her on a special diet.
When Rosemary managed to lose a few pounds, she became more active. She herself was glad that she was finally losing weight. She lost almost five pounds in a few months, which was an amazing result. After such a transformation it was hard to recognize her!
Now Rosemary is running, playing, and enjoying life. She is an active, happy, and healthy girl, and they are already looking for new permanent owners for her. We wish this beautiful girl finds them soon!
