Camera Shows Dog Comforting Crying Baby Sister With His Favorite Toy
Animals can suddenly turn out to be sensitive and loving babysitters for young children like Tommy.
In July, the Elliott family from the United States welcomed a baby girl, Macy, into their home. Their dog, a two-year-old Doberman named Tommy, was as excited as her parents! He was very excited and happy when they brought her home for the first time.
The doggie responded wonderfully to the girl, and immediately accepted her.
“We have had him around family and friends, toddlers and children in the past, and his whole character changes. He gets down to their level and just lies with them, letting them stroke him,” Elliott told The Dodo. “He is so gentle and careful — it must be a natural instinct.”
“[We] both greeted Tommy and got him settled before bringing Macie in,” Elliott said. “We let him smell her worn clothes and told him ‘gentle’ we brought Macie in, and he was naturally really inquisitive and gentle. He used to do a little sad whine when she cried for the first few days, but has now become used to all the new sounds and smells, so doesn’t bat an eyelid,” Elliott added. “He regularly wanders past and checks on her in her cot and, each time, gives a little tail wag if she’s OK.”
Tommy always wanted to be near the baby, but he never touched her. He understood what a gentle creature she was and was her faithful companion and little lady. Later, the parents discovered that Tommy even cared for Macy, and was sensitive to her emotions.
Recently, Macy cried as she lay in her stroller in her room, asking for milk. Her parents were in the other room, and Tommy decided to take matters into his own hands. He brought his little owner a toy to calm her down and put it in the stroller. Seeing it later in the surveillance footage, the owners were amazed.
Although Macy is only three weeks old, Tommy has already become her best friend and faithful protector. She is not afraid of anything around him – and undoubtedly, this friendship will last for years to come!
