An American resident named Paul rescued a tiny, defenseless squirrel from the street three years ago. As he was driving his car to pick up his children from school, he happened to see two birds chasing the squirrel. The little one was just a baby and must have fallen out of a hollow tree.
The man immediately decided to take the little squirrel in his hands. He tried to shove the baby back into the hollow, but the mother squirrel refused to accept it, no matter how hard Paul tried.

“I tried to put her back near her nest but her mother never took her back. And after waiting over 9 hours, I decided to take her to my place for the night. Tried to go to her nest again the next day but her mother didn’t want her.”
Apparently, after a long time, the mother already refused to acknowledge the baby. Then Paul took the squirrel with him. At first, he planned to leave her only for the night. The next day he tried again to return the squirrel to the hollow, but history repeated itself. The mother did not accept her. So the squirrel got a new home – Paul’s family. She was named Stella, and the man continued to take care of her.

“The time I realized she would never leave was when I let her climb up some trees and she would run around and have so much fun and still want to come back to me. I was so sure when she would see how it felt to be free that she would just run away. But she always comes back to me. Or runs to me if she sees me go too far away from her.”

The man planned to care for Stella for a while and then release her back into the wild. But the squirrel had his own plans. As it grew up, Paul tried several times to leave it outside, where its congeners lived. However, each time the squirrel would return to his house or run after him.
Stella now lives with Paul’s family. She is adored by everyone, his children, the whole family, friends, and guests. Her owner only feeds her his favorite nuts, avocados, and other goodies. And Stella herself is most attached to Paul.

“Stella is very important to me. We need to be there for one another. Even animals! I am more than happy to have Stella in my life. I tell everyone that I rescued her but I can say there are times when I feel that she is the one that rescued me! The love she gives back to me and her playfulness makes me beyond happy and grateful.”
