Residents of the American town of Huntsville spotted this kitten in the street. The frightened poor thing was hiding under a building, meowing quietly and looking around fearfully. When people approached him, the little guy immediately hid inside and refused to come out – he was very afraid of everything around him.

Kind passersby contacted local animal rescuers, and a volunteer woman named Mary responded. When she got there, she saw the kitten in the same spot. The woman was in no hurry to get the baby kitten out – at first, she talked quietly to her, trying to win her trust.

After a while the kitty seemed to realize that the woman would not hurt her. After a while, the kitty realized, as if the woman herself, that the woman would not hurt her. And when Mary reached out her hand to the baby, it went to her without resistance. The kitty was thin and weak – Mary immediately took her into her house, and gave her the nickname Belkie.

The caretaker began giving the kitty medication and feeding her on a regular timetable, so that she would regain her weight and strength as quickly as possible. Belkie turned out to be very sweet and affectionate – she constantly asks for the caretaker’s attention and purrs on her lap for a long time.

After two weeks, Belkie was noticeably cheerful, much more active, and had gained weight. She took a long time to regain her appetite, but this had no effect on her energy level – Belkie remained just as active, curious and playful. Now they have found another shelter for Belkie. Later they will find permanent owners for her.
