A Couple who Worked at Meta woke Up To The Same Letter of Resignation

An unlucky couple employed by Meta was shocked to discover they had been fired from their jobs when they opened their email in the morning. Last month, the owner of Facebook and Instagram eliminated 11,000 positions or 13 percent of its workforce. Jess White and her American husband Anthony White were two of the workers that lost their jobs. Jess announced on LinkedIn that she had been let go in a mass firing at Meta but had nothing negative to say about it.

Their LinkedIn accounts show that the couple actually joined Meta at about the same time last year
Only a few weeks ago, after taking a parental leave, did Jess return to Meta. She called Meta’s parental leave program “progressive” and expressed her excitement about returning to the organization.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced that the 11,000 people who lost their jobs would receive 16 weeks of compensation in addition to two weeks for every year of service.

Additionally, he stated that they would receive assistance from a third party organization to aid in the job search, including ‘early access’ to positions that have not yet been listed.

Mark Zuckerberg sent a message to the Meta staff outlining his decision prior to the mass layoffs.

He said: “I’ve decided to reduce the size of our team by about 13 percent and let more than 11,000 of our talented employees go. We are also taking a number of additional steps to become a leaner and more efficient company by cutting discretionary spending and extending our hiring freeze through Q1.”
